Empty Nest

The coffee was not quite as sweet this morning without my buddies to share it with. The house feels a little empty without Momma and Frank. We had a great time visiting and playing cards after the little ones went down for the night. Another bonus was having our own personal chef for the week. You guys were very good to us, come back soon. Here is Grandma C's recipe for a yummy Florida dessert.
Key Lime Pie
1 baked graham cracker crust
1 8 oz. cream cheese
1 can Eagle brand milk
1/2 c. key lime juice
1/2 c. sour cream
sweetened whip cream
Bake crust according to directions on box
Beat softened cream cheese, Eagle Brand milk, key lime juice, and sour cream.
Pour into crust and bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. After pie has cooled, chill in fridge. Top with whip cream before serving. Delicious.

My Dad the Rock Star

We are having a great visit with my Dad. The kids are crazy about the attention they are recieving. My favoite part is when they insist on waking him up in the morning. ( Payback for all of the times he bugged me in the early afternoon when I was younger) Grandpa or as my kids call him Grampoo, even tagged along to my weekly tennis outing ( all ladies ) He was nice enough to take it easy on us. Today he helped me with my babysitting gig. I think we might be starting to wear him out. O and CC are lucky to have such terrific grandparents on both sides, it stinks that they can't hang with them more often. As soon as we win the lotto I plan on investing in a hippie type compound where we can all live in perfect harmony.

Craftin' and Cleanin'

I have never been a big fan of crafting (to my mother's disappointment) My kids are now at the age that just about everything revolves around an art project. I am helping with the preschool party on Thursday and O's kindergarten party on the 20th. My partner and I went to Joann's on Sunday and secured our supplies. I have been doing alot of cutting and gluing since then. I would say my crafting ability is about the same as my 6 yr. old son. The good news is that it gives me something to do besides eat in front of the tv at night. My dad is arriving this afternoon and I am fighting a losing battle trying to keep my house clean for 5 minutes straight. Oh well, as long as I have plenty of tp, salty snacks, and kids who like to wrestle he will be happy. Doesn't CC look like a perfect little angel?

O Tannenbaum

We captured and cut down our Christmas tree on Saturday, it was no match for our saw. I read a sign at the farm that said we are much better citizen's than those nasty artificial tree people. You know, all the clean air we are helping to produce. I like to think our tree is happier now. It was a balmy 24 degrees during our hour long search for the perfect tree. CC and I got a little whiny towards the end. We perked up after we were rewarded with cheeseburger's for all of our hard work.

What's the Buzz, Tell Me What's a Happenin?

Bill and I had a great time on Friday night, we went to the big city and saw Jesus Christ Superstar. The music was great. The same guy that played Jesus in the motion picture was our "Jesus" (great voice, maybe a little old) but the highlight was Judas who was played by the lead singer of Living Colour. He was awesome. It is so nice to get out and do something grown up once in awhile.

Bus Stop

We have been lucky enough to get a little snow the last couple of days. I'm ready for a big storm, we want to go sledding. We have a busy weekend planned. B and I are going on a hot date, we are all going Christmas tree hunting, and my fellow preschool Mom and I need to go to the craft store (Christmas party prep.) If we have any energy left there is a winter festival that sounds like fun. Pretty ambitious weekend for me.

Front Page News

My friend and I took our kids to see the tree lighting in our town and what do you know? Our kids picture made the front page news. Pretty exciting. We had a mellow weekend. One of our neighbor's had our kids over for a playdate and B and I got most of our Christmas shopping done. The boys went to a B-day party on Sunday that CC and I had to skip. The party was at a bowling alley and CC had was already up coughing on Sat. night. (we couldn't risk hanging out in second hand smoke) We were both pretty disappointed. I am long overdue for a social activity and I don't think this blog counts. This is close to what the picture in the paper looks like.

Rough Night

I went to bed after ER. 1am CC cannot find the toy mag she had to take to bed, I find it for her and tuck her in. 2am O is cold and dives into our bed to warm up. 2:45am I take him back to his bed. 4am CC drink of h2o. 4:15 am CC toilet. 5am CC back in our room because it is raining too loudly. I give up and sleep in her bed until the kids I babysit arrive. This picture is for Shelly and Posh.
